Users review: Who is Chris McCandless? A real Supertramp? Egocentric obsessive, emotionally damaged? Suicidal thrill? Kerouac hard to search as a vagabond addicted to always tell the truth? A high-functioning schizophrenic? Youth Culture reincarnation of John Gault 21 Century? Or just a child through a difficult time and finding some space to sort things out? Sean Penn's pop-philosophical investigation of this young man's journey across America, Alaska and in the depths of his young soul will give an interpretation at least. Although it is not clear whose interpretation we see, it is quite clear that Penn respects his subject and gave this movie so much thought and energy that could be injected. And the film reminds me of something very true to the simplicity of self-righteous? of youth.I not concerned with the accuracy of the film, and while it's tempting to award this film Werner Herzog, but less romanticized Grizzly Man compare, the themes are really too far apart, Duke and Penn's view of mankind is too different to produce a meaningful comparison. The objectives of this comparison, too big and too easily. But I'll make a comment on the two films - Film Penn is much more a tribute to his protagonist as Herzogs.I found in nature, be a gripping, the film reflects. The script was good, but sometimes a bit pretentious - sometimes the line between character development and religious character. Penn's direction and cinematography are masterful. The actors - all performers included - absolutely excellent.Recommended - but not for the joyous light entertainment.
