Users review: High School misfit Carrie (Sissy Spacek) unleashes her telekinetic fury of his persecutors. This was a huge success in 1976, and scared me silly. It does not scare me now (except for the closure order), but I still think it's a good solid horror handled beautifully by Brian De Palma. It moves quickly, some beautiful images (everything is soft-focus shot with a muted color) and exhibits almost uniformally good. The only bad one is John Travolta playing way out of his depth hood. Amy Irving (as a student who is befriended by Carrie), William Katt (very '70s with Afro), Nancy Allen (play real bitch), Betty Buckley (so young and full of energy) and PJ iso ; la (silly but bearable) are all perfect. But Spacek fits excellently Piper Laurie is very scary and strange as his deranged mother, religious. Also, the film (by today's standards) very subtle in terms of blood and gore. And the final sequence will make you jump (also take cars in the background while - they are moving again) Only complaints - De Palma really hate some of the children of high school ; la - you feel like hes working out some personal issues here. And who really need a shower sequence slow-mo at the beginning? That aside - this is a great movie. See it in the mailbox.
