Users review: What a year it has been for animated films. So far in 2010 we have had three major films from three studies rivals. DreamWorks started with a surprise sleeper hit How to Train Your Dragon and animation juggernaut Pixar countered with the long-awaited Toy Story 3 Now Universal Illumination Entertainment has released the audacity titled Despicable Me and while it may be the worst of the trio, is certainly the most pure entertaining. The strengths of Despicable Me lie within the veins that are commonly found in film animation, but his voice just use them very effectively. Along with 3-D jump on the bandwagon (my theater was screened at normal size), Despicable Me has an impressive voice cast, a trick first used with Robin Williams back in the days of traditional days of animation with Aladdin, excellent executed slapstick and what I will call the factor shoulder. What a cute or funny, you'd be hard pressed to find a film in this medium that does not use this tactic. Even so-called arthouse animated pictures as WALL-E follows the trend (in fact, that particular film contains two of these supporting characters) and Despicable Me ups the ante and take thousands. The protagonist Gru (voiced my Steve Carell) operates his evil lair with the help of a host of small workers yellow adorable, and with them awwwee factor is subject to a healthy dose of slapstick above. Located in the easy laughter is still ample heart and if you are inclined to do so, you may very well shed a tear or two. This heat is generated by three orphan girls, Margo, Edith and Agnes doe-eyed, but maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. All Crane has ever wanted to be accepted and what better way to achieve this goal through supervillainy. After a fresh-faced rival villain Vector (Jason Segel) released Gru by stealing a pyramid of Egypt, devises a plan to get a shrink-ray from a test facility for the government and to use such technology to cut, and then steal the moon. Things did not go according to plan after Vector steals the shrink-ray right out of thin gravel couplings. What is a super villain to do? Define another level, of course, this time using the three orphans to infiltrate Vectors cave by selling cookies. All very complicated in writing, but it works very well on screen.Steve Carell does an admirable job in the role of lead singer and his Russian accent helps us forget, is an A-list star located behind the animation. Russell Brand gives an unrecognizable performance as Dr. Nefario, the brains behind the operation Gravel, and Kristen Wiig is hilarious as the head of the orphanage. The most disappointing is certainly the great Jason Segel whose guaranteed nature fails him, as he makes his voice. Half charm Segel is his physical presence and castrated in a voice-only role. While the physical humor will undoubtedly please the kids, there is perhaps even more so for the adults and if a movie is in a position to make me double over the island, so it must be barking , do something right. With Shrek Forever After being a misstep for this medium, I look forward to the rest of the year with enthusiasm. What I know for sure is that I (and the audience I joined) had an absolute blast with this movie, which is unfortunate in the name only.Catch all the latest film news and reviews on http://playeraffinity.com/ movies . html
